I've been away from my blog for quite a while now, but I'm back with a passion. And my passion happens to be helping find homes or financial support for the animals that the people in my county throw away, abandon, abuse, or simply cannot look after. I began last summer by making portraits of abandoned animals. The results were amazing. 100% of those animals found permanent homes. These were good dogs who just needed to be loved. Many times when an abandoned animal is photographed, he is dirty, malnourished, and scared. With the help of volunteers, we bathed and groomed the animals and made them look their best. This made them appear just as beautiful on the outside as they were on the inside. This year I'm making an effort to help raise money to get animals out of the county animal shelter and into foster or permanent homes. We're starting by first seeking donations to purchase large kennelsto lend out to individuals who agree to foster animals whose days are numbered when they go to the county shelter. If the shelter fills up, good adoptable animals are euthanized just to free up space. Next we'd like to create a spay and neuter fund to help offset the cost of preventing more unwanted animals in the shelter. Our goal would be to keep the shelter empty. If you are willing to help, please contact Angela at the animal shelter at 252-79-6800. Or donate what you can to help us in this effort. God bless you.
